You know whats lame?
Posted in Konnichiwa on August 29th, 2009 by ChanTo start off I should announce that my savings account is in the reds again. I’ve gone almost a year without having a negative balance. If you’ve read my post from a long time ago, majority of them are about me over drafting. This time its not my fault however (or I don’t believe it is).
Tim chatted me right at the same time my online banking page refreshed, where I found out someone had made a couple fraudulent charges with my check card. One of them was a $125 transaction at a restaurant called Mariscos in Los Angeles at 3PM yesterday. The next big transaction was $225 made at a nail salon called Top Nails in Montebello California at 7pm same day. These two locations are about 5 miles apart. By the way, I’ve been in Tulare all day setting up desktops for a new building.
At first I was a bit confused at how, why my checking account had a negative balance. The next thing that happened was a minor panic attack while I frantically pulled out my wallet and searched for my Visa debit card. When I found it I felt even more uneasy not knowing how this money could have been taken out of my account. As these things were happening I was examining the back of my Visa card for my bank’s customer service number. I was distressed so much that I was calling the TTY wondering why it kept telling me I had to have a compatible device. lol
Anyway I finally found the correct number and reached a very helpful Bank of America rep that calmed me down. I kept my fingers crossed as I asked her if these transactions were done online or if it was made at the merchant’s location. When she explained that the purchases made were done at the venue, I was relieved. Initially I had feared that my passwords and my accounts have been compromised. Instead what was explained to me meant that the person who made these transactions had to have cloned my card or spoofed it.
Now I’m just playing the waiting game for these transactions to post. Once they post I can call the fraud department and get my money back. I hope everything works out the way the lady told me it should.
And you know whats lame? Mary’s dog decided to terrorize a kid in our neighborhood. Now she is going to the dog pound. No more neighbor’s complaining about how disruptive our dog is. Woot!
UPDATE::
Yay, I got my money back! Now I wait for my Visa card.
