My trip yesterday, and before yesterdae…
Posted in Konnichiwa on June 30th, 2008 by adminIt was fortunate that we (Brianne and I) had a GPS unit with us or we probably wouldn’t be home today. LA traffic is indeed hectic, but now I am very use to it. I even started to behave the same way as them. There is this belief that the best place to learn how to drive is in LA. I don’t know if you’ve heard that before.
If you didn’t already know, Brianne’s mom and her church youth group made a trip to Irvine from Arizona. I believe it was to visit the school (HIU), Six flags, and the beach. Since she was down south and three hours away, it was practical for us to visit her. The weekend there wasn’t boring nor was it fun. To sum up the weekend, it was ‘decent‘.
Then on Sunday, the day of our departure, Brianne and I decided to make a trip to Chinatown. I’ve been there before and it is kinda fun. If you haven’t been there, you’re not missing out. Unless you like cheap wall scrolls, Anime, illegal fireworks, Dim sum, Boba Tea, imported pets (that are illegal), boot legged movies, Bonsai trees, knock off hand bags, swords, nun-chucks, random Asian nic-nacs, or SARS then you are missing out.
We also found Mary’s hair salon there.
Also near the area of Chinatown, you will also find Little Tokyo. This place is indeed little, but it is the biggest ‘Japan town’ I’ve been to. There we found Melon Pan that Brianne had been searching for since her first viewing of Shakugan no Shana. Melon bread is delicious despite the generic way it looks. I do agree with Brianne, it does taste like animal crackers.
There was a Boba tea shop in Little Tokyo that was really good. Even though they had a ‘B’ rating from their last health inspection, I still went in. They had a large variety of Boba drinks.
Overall, the trip to Chinatown and Little Tokyo made up for the bland weekend. I wish that we had more people with us. It would of made it more fun.
